Philanthropic Legacy
To honor the memory of Neighbors of Kenilworth’s special friend, Karen Leese Miller, and her legacy of community engagement, we established a separate Neighbors of Kenilworth philanthropic endeavor. Funds raised through this endeavor will support organizations and projects that support:
IRS regulations prevent NOK from being a 501(c) 3 charity and consequently your donation would not be tax deductible and the charge on your account will go directly to Neighbors of Kenilworth. Please be assured that every single dollar raised will go directly to assist 501 (c) 3 organizations. |
Service Event in 2023
During the holiday season, our December drive assisted the Fill a Heart for Kids with a Hot Cocoa packing session as part of our December coffee event. The Karen Miller fund supported the costs of the cocoa packages and our members stuffed hundreds of packages supporting local students in foster care and those experiencing homelessness. Our first Karen Leese Miller service event! Bernie's Book Bank distributes quality children's books to significantly increase book ownership amongst at risk infants, toddlers and school age children throughout Chicagoland. They serve around 360,000 children every year. Neighbors collected gently used and new children's books at the last luncheon and donated them along with a check to Bernie's Book Bank. We helped sort the amazing collection of donated books and had fun celebrating April 24th, Karen's birthday, in her honor! |
