Hacksaw Ridge
"Hacksaw Ridge" is a story about Desmond Doss, a Seventh-day Adventist who endured a troubled childhood in rural Virginia, and enlists in the army during World War II despite his pacifist beliefs. After Desmond's desire to serve as an unarmed medic is approved by military officials, he is sent to the Pacific arena, where he saves dozens of lives during the Battle of Okinawa.  Hacksaw Ridge is a movie about bravery and the power of inspiration, be it divine or corporeal, in moments of hopelessness. Desmond’s faith is placed front and center, and the way it operates here celebrates not the object of that faith, but the power it has to motivate both Desmond and his squad.
"Hacksaw Ridge" has earned a total of six Oscar nominations including Best
Actor in a Leading Role.

Picture
Lion
"Lion" has earned six Oscar nominations including Best Actor and Actress  in a Supporting Role.
The story is about a young  five-year-old boy , Saroo who, after being separated from his family in India,  is adopted by an Australian couple who raise him with great love. Fences
“Fences” is the story of the African-American experience in the 1950s, seen through the prism of a Hill District family.  The film has also earned Best Actor and Best Actress Oscar nominations for the portrayal of Troy Maxson - a former Negro League ballplayer and trash collector in the Hill District - and his steadfast wife Rose and Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay).

Picture
Hidden Figures
"Hidden Figures" is the story of a team of African-American women mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the US space program. The film is a faithful and truly beautiful portrait of our country’s consistent gloss over the racial tensions that have divided and continue to plague the fabric our existence. Lavishly engaging from start to finish, “Hidden Figures” may be able to catch the most inopportune movie-goer off guard and cause them to fall for its undeniable and classic storytelling. The film has also earned Oscar nominations for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, and Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay).

Picture
Hell or High Water
"Hell or High Water" is the story of Toby and his ex-con brother Tanner who rob branches of a West Texas bank to obtain enough money to prevent the foreclosure of their family ranch. Crafty Texas Ranger Marcus Hamilton is soon on the case, his last before he retires, and as Marcus zeroes in on them, the brothers attempt one last score.
If it wins , it would be the first western to win Best Picture at the Oscars since “No Country for Old Men” (2007).   The film has also earned Oscar nominations for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Film Editing and Best Writing (Original Screenplay).
